My hair is constantly changing. The first time I had a dramatic change in my hair was in Kindergarten. I have always had long straight hair parted from the middle. However, one day I grabbed a pair scissors from the counter in the living room and dashed quickly into the bathroom. I then climbed onto the bathroom sink, placed my face closely to the mirror, and snip-snip away my hair. Voila, I now had bangs.
If you do not stop something from becoming a habit, it is going to be hard to change later. I am addicted to experimenting with my own hair.

I have colored my hair a numerous time.
- The next two pictures were after I had my first encounters with bleach at the age of 16. I learned that bleach processes faster at the roots due to the warmth on your scalp.
- Later in the year I bought a box-dyed in a red-brown shade. Here were the results.
- In the second semester of my Junior year, I bought two black box dyes to color my hair. One box dye is not enough to cover your hair if it is past your shoulders.
- At 19, I had the itch to bleach my hair blonde for the first time. I went to the extreme and completed all these process within 36 hours. My hair was very damaged at this point. (I toned my final bleached hair with an ash toner to make it not brassy.)
- A huge difference I noticed in my blonde hair compared to my dark hair was how porous it was. It took forever for my hair to dry after being wet and I could go for many days without washing my hair.
- TIP: If you are planning to go blonde, please take your time. Your hair has a different history from mine and so different results will occur.
- Many people told me it was a waste of money and time to have bleached my hair to blonde in one day then color it back to black in a month. I highly disagree. Every opportunity I get to color my hair gives me experience. I learn from what I did wrong. I colored my hair to black so soon since I was not use to my new hair color. To be honest, I was a little embarrassed to go out into public.
- Years passed and I bleached my hair blonde again. It took me two weeks to achieve this color and kept it for three-four months. What I loved the most about this hair color was the root-melt I incorporated in the blonde hair. With this, there will not be a harsh line of demarcation when my hair grows out.
- Here, I used a darker toner for my hair when trying to get rid of the brassiness from the previous blonde. My hair went back the the blonde again after a few washes.
- In December of 2015, I chopped all my hair short and added red to my hair then added brown. The reason I added red to my hair first was because brown hair naturally have red pigments. I stripped all those pigments out by bleaching it. If I added brown hair dye on top of my blonde, it would have turned a green gray color.
- This was my second experience at the salon. I had asked for a balayage (hand painting). The hair stylist did an exceptional job with hair however, she did not darken my root area as dark as I asked. Leaving my hair lighter made the highlights really hard to distinguish especially when my hair color faded.
